welcome to the 21st century

So, about 2 years ago, I got a myspace invite. Already having been on friendster, six degrees (remember six degrees?) and other social networking sites, I thought “wtf, another one?” But, I dutifully set up something, added the 5 people I knew who already had pages and I don’t believed I signed back on ’til last week.

I finally gave in to the peer pressure. After the gazillionth “did you see so-and-so on myspace?” and “i found out from her myspace page,” information whore that I am, I had to see what the fuss was all about.

And, of course, I’m addicted. Because I certainly have the spare time to see if Susie Q from high school or that odd guy from the dorm has a page (she does, but he doesn’t), add them as friends, try to make my page sassy and clever (it could happen!), and read everyone else’s page. The laundry and vacuuming can wait, right?

The mind reels at the number of people I’ve lost touch with that I’m finding – I’m becoming quite the stalker…. Soon the novelty will wear off, but for now, I’m hooked….
